Meet Frankie Mae

  • Why did you choose to work for us?

    I initially joined Glendola through Rainforest Cafe, a family friendly restaurant, as the hours were flexible and suited my needs. They advertised in just the right place for me as I was looking for part time promo work.

  • Tell us about your story so far?

    I continued to work at Rainforest Cafe for four years and throughout this time because more involved in the Sales and Marketing side of the business, eventually working full time as assistant to the Sales and Marketing Manager. I then applied internally to work for Waxy O'Connor's as the Sales and Marketing Manager and got the job which was an amazing opportunity.

  • What do you get up to on a typical day/shift?

    My role has changed so much over the last four and a half years. Now I handle telephone and email enquiries, manage all social media platforms and communications such as newsletters and advertising, design artwork for adverts, brochures, posters and work on Waxy's website. I also attend networking events as an ambassador of Glendola and am the Events Manager so I am heavily involved in organising things like New Year, Halloween and of course Paddy's Day!

  • What do you like most about working here?

    I love a challenge so this new role has really pushed me to do better. The staff are friendly and helpful too!

  • What’s been your biggest achievement so far?

    Can I have two? When working at Rainforest Cafe I was the Project Manager and Head Elf of their Santa's Grotto and helped raise the level of attendees from 900 children to 2,500. Of course being given the opportunity to become Sales Manager of two units has probably topped this now, but you should always remember the hard work you've put in in the past.

  • What makes someone successful here?

    In Glendola there are many different types of businesses so you have to be able to look at the bigger picture. Every business has different departments within it and it's essential that you work together as a team and understand each department has a massive role in keeping the business going. It also helps if you're hard working and dedicated!

  • Tell us about the training and development…

    To be honest you can never stop learning in this job. I still don't know everything there is to know about my new role but I love that! Glendola are very supportive too of additional external training and working with some of our suppliers to make sure we are experts in our fields.

  • What is it really like to work here?

    It's hard work, especially the more responsibility you have, but it pays off! No day is the same and the key is to make the most of them and have fun at the same time.

  • What do you think makes us unique as an employer?

    Glendola do not do things by half. When an idea takes root they go for it. It's great to work with such proactive people.

  • What would you say to someone who was thinking of applying?

    There's something for everyone in Glendola as we have units all over the country and there are so many jobs, from bar staff, maintenance, design, IT and even the odd mascot!
